Working Bikes

Working Bikes will have four bike-generators at the Green Revolution Exhibit in the Museum of Science and Industry located at 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, IL 60637.

Working Bikes will be attending Mayor Daley's 9th Annual Holiday Sports Festival being held at McCormick Place in Chicago.

We anticipate that up to 85,000 kids will try out our bike-generators!

Working Bikes will be attending the 18th Annual Cronometro Bike Swap being held at the Alliant Energy Center at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way in Madison, Wisconsin.

Working Bikes will be attending the Chicago Winter Bike Swap being held at Harper College in Palatine, at 1200 W. Algonquin road (located north-east of the intersection of Algonquin & Roselle roads).

The main (south) entrance to Harper College is on Algonquin road, but there are also entrances on Roselle road (east) and Euclid Avenue (north).

Come enjoy an adult beverage, including a special local micromicrobrew, at Cary's Lounge. Net proceeds from all sales will go to Working Bikes Cooperative to help fund a new building and/or better working conditions in our existing facilities.

Cary's lounge is at 2251 W. Devon Street, near the corner of Devon and Western Avenue on the north side of Chicago.

There are meters on the street for bike parking, some inside bike parking space, and possibly some event-specific bike parking in the rear parking lot.

The town of Northfield, in conjunction with several area park districts, schools, and churches, is planning a huge bike drive!

It will be held at the Northfield Park District (401 Wagner Road, Northfield, IL 60093) from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday March 6th and from 8:00am until noon on Saturday March 7th.

We will take part in the Whole Foods Green Series being held at their South Loop store, at 1101 South Canal Street.

Northeastern Illinois University is sponsoring a bike drive for Working Bikes ...

"Thin the herd and bring your old bike to the Public Safety Office of Northeastern Illinois University between 8am-4pm the week of 4/20/09-4/24/09, but just until 3pm on 4/24/09.

All donated bikes will go to Working Bikes, a non-profit agency which diverts bicycles from the waste stream in Chicago by repairing them for sale and charity.

Sponsored by the Green Cycle Group & College of Cycling."
