Children's Bike Sale
About 100 children's bikes were shared with members of the neighbourhood at low cost, on Saturday Dewcember 11th.
STOP-PRESS: we will, indeed, hold the bike sale once again this coming Saturday!
And we passed on about 100 more children's bikes ...
We will be holding a sale of gently-used refurbished bikes suitable for children 2 to 7 years old at Working Bikes, 2434 S. Western Avenue. These bikes will be sold for $5 each.
Larger bikes suitable for older children also available at normal (low) prices.
Erie Neighborhood House
15 bikes were prepared and handed over to Erie Neighborhood House, a community service agency founded in 1870 that promotes a just and inclusive society by strengthening low-income, primarily Latino families through skill-building, access to critical resources, advocacy and collaborative action.
Catholic Charities
8 bikes were prepared and handed over to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago fulfilling the Church's role in the mission of charity to anyone in need by providing compassionate, competent and professional services that strengthen and support individuals, families and communities based on the value and dignity of human life.

Delivery of the bikes was rescheduled to 8/23 from 7/12 ...
The annual giveaway in conjunction with local shelters. 70 bikes required.

15 kids bikes for the Friends of Robert Emmet School (FORS) to give to their alma mater in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.

Thanks to Raoul, Mary, Nick, and the rest of you at Working Bikes for the 15 bikes for Emmet School. Emmet will be sending formal acknowledgement and FORES (Friends of Robert Emmet School) can also if you wish. Here are a few photos of today's festivities for whatever use they may be.
No Child Left Inside
120 middle-schoolers (aged 9-12) will be taken out for a day to the forest preserve and allowed to keep the bikes they use on their ride.

This program would like 8 bikes for 10-12 year olds, 24" mountain-bikes would probably be ideal for this age group?
