Loyola University Chicago is pleased to announce a Book & Bike Drive to benefit Global Alliance for Africa (GAA), a non-profit organization which develops programs to economically strengthen communities throughout Africa. The drive is the outcome of a Loyola University Immersion Trip to East Africa in June 2007 where faculty and staff members had the opportunity to learn about GAA’s initiatives first hand.

All faculty and staff members, students, alumni, and the community at large are encouraged to donate new or good condition books and bikes, and to make monetary donations. Checks should be made payable to Global Alliance for Africa. Receipts for tax deductible donations will be available on site on October 27th for those who request them.

The event will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Saturday, October 27th at the loading dock of Crown Center at Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus, which is accessible at the east end of Loyola Avenue by the lake. Books and monetary donations may also be delivered to Loyola's Water Tower Campus downtown any time prior to October 27th at Professor Linda Tuncay's office, Room 442, Maguire Hall, 1 East Pearson on the corner of State Street.
