At last count we had stuffed 334 adult MTBs and 178 juvenille BMXs onto the container, along with 1-piece cranks, tyres and extra wheels. Lee was still stuffing a few small kids bikes in and was up to 7 when I left, so the total was 519 & counting!
STOP_PRESS: I'm told that we got up to 525 bikes by the times the doors were closed?
Thanks to all the volunteers who showed up to help and, in particular to the guys from The Gateway Foundation, Chicago Westside.
We will be filling a container bound for the Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN, Namibia), with bikes - hopefully around 350 adult MTBs and 150 BMXs - on Saturday, October 9th.
