Message from Tamara Dean:
"Greetings all,
On Thursday, October 30th I'll be giving a presentation related to my forthcoming book, The Human-Powered Home, at the Chicago Center for Green Technology. I'll talk about human power potential and describe successful inventions from around the world. I've also asked Lee if he'd be willing to bring a few bike machines to demonstrate. I'd love to see you there, either showing off your human power or sitting back and taking it in. (And in case you're curious about that commercially available bike blender, the mini B3, I've obtained one at a discount and will bring it.)
The book is a compendium of information about human-powered devices for use in and around the home. Working Bikes and Maya Pedal, among other organizations, are featured in it. To learn more, see: www.thehumanpoweredhome.com
Below are details on the event from the CCGT:

Thanks to pedals, treadles, and cranks, our muscles have operated machines since Medieval times. Could we once again rely on human power, rather than fossil fuels, to run our lives? How much power can one person generate? Discover the answers to these questions and learn about ingenious human-powered contraptions used around the globe.
Please note: There is no charge for attendance; however, pre-registration is required. To register for this program, please call (312) 746-9642 or email greentech@cityofchicago.org
