We will be filling a container with bikes, etc., bound for our partners at the Village Bicycle Project in Ghana.

This is the shipping party we had to postpone after "snowmagedon" in early February!

That old bike in your garage might be a clutter, but for someone who's struggling, it could the way to work and dignity. A unique charity is accepting used bikes this spring. They'll do all the work of restoring your bike and turning into someone's dream.

All you have to do is drop it off. Please bring your bike on Saturday, April, 9, from 10am-2pm to the parking lot on the west side of the police station, 125 E 1st Street, just east of York Road, in Elmhurst Illinois.

Working Bikes Cooperative and 25th Ward Alderman Danny Solis are proud to co-sponsor a screening of the film "With My Own Two Wheels" on April 22nd at the Benito Juarez High School auditorium in Pilsen at 7pm.

There is a suggested $10 donation, $5 with student ID.
First 50 film screening attendees will receive a free WBC shirt.

The film weaves together the stories of five individuals across the globe into a single narrative about the bicycle as a vehicle for change. The documentary was shot on location in Zambia, Ghana, India, Guatemala and California.

The evening's program will consist of opening remarks by the Alderman's office and Working Bikes, followed by a screening of the 44 minute film. After the screening, one of the film's directors will be joining us to participate in a question and answer session and facilitate a discussion about the importance of bicycles both in the US and around the world.

Bring in any old bicycles to Whole Foods Market on April 23 and donate them to Working Bikes. Working Bikes is an organization that sends used bikes to developing countries. They have sent over 35,000 bikes and wheelchairs to projects in Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. Stop in to see a working bike powered fountain that shoots water from a rain barrel in our store during the bike collection and be able to talk to a member from working bikes about their organization."
